Diane Couri Announces Candidacy for Macon County State's Attorney: A Strong Advocate for Community Safety and Justice 

Decatur, IL – September 1, 2023– Born and raised right here in Macon County, Diane Couri is proud to announce her candidacy for Macon County State's Attorney, running for the Republican nomination. Rooted in faith and with a fierce commitment to her community, Diane is dedicated to making Macon County a safer, more vibrant place for everyone. 

Diane's upbringing instilled in her the values of hard work, community engagement, and giving back. These principles guided her journey as she pursued a career in law and public service. She envisions a future for Macon County where her children and all residents feel safe, and where the community becomes a source of pride and unity. 

"I have always believed that our community has endless potential, and I am excited to take the next step in serving its residents as Macon County State's Attorney," said Diane. "My vision is to create an environment that is safe and just for all. I look forward to bringing innovative ideas, grit, and victim-centered prosecution to the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office." 

Diane Couri brings a wealth of experience to the table, having worked extensively on prosecuting felony cases, including first-degree murder, attempt first-degree murder, and sex crimes. Her experience in the private sector makes her a well-rounded attorney, providing a firm foundation to lead the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office. Her deep understanding of the legal system and her commitment to seeking justice make her an ideal candidate for the role of State's Attorney. 

Macon County Sheriff Jim Root expressed his unwavering support for Diane’s Candidacy saying:

“ I support Diane Couri for the office of State’s Attorney because I believe she is willing to fight for the rights of people while holding criminals responsible for their crimes. She is experienced and can lead this office with the challenges of today and into the future.”
